F-series vs E-series ECM and harness

What are the main differences between the 2? I'm looking at 05 and up E-series 2 valve vs 04 and down F-series 2 valve. Will they interchange?

i am currently doing a engine swap on the two .. i have a 97 van ( e350)v10 motor and a 2002 v-10 F250 motor .. all harnesses etc.. the harnesses are layed out differently they are the same yet different .. if you are doing a motor swap and the motors are the same motors ( i.e. v10 and v-10 for me ) then i would take the old harness of the old motor and put it on the new motor so that way the lay out and the connections stay the same .. .. and that way the computer that is in the van will run the new motor as it should vs if it were put in with the other harness.. i hope i made sence

I'm actually looking at the harness and computer compatibility/difference between the engines on the newer 2 valves to facilitate a Torqshift 5 speed auto swap into a pre 05 F-series. I understand that standalone controllers don't do very well with the Torqshift, so a factory ECM is best in controlling them. More of a daydream question, but if its feasible I'd like to try it.

kas83, that's an interesting question.

One thing I can think of that's different in the vans is where they get the road speed from. On the pickups, it's from the rear diff ABS sensor which is turn fed into the ABS module, and then to the PCM.

On the vans, they pick it up from the output shaft speed sensor on the tranny.

But if you're going to use the entire harness from the van for a Torqshift transplant into a pickup, that shouldn't matter. Except that the rear gear ratio value in the PCM will have to be updated to get the road speed correct.

I'm not sure, but I think the actual speedo into the dash in the pre-05 pickups is driven by the output from the ABS module. Look at an EVTM to find out.

So again, not a problem.

The question I think you're asking is how different is the engine harness, and is it different enough to require using the van engine harness with the van PCM, or can you leave the engine harness alone, and just change out the tranny side of things.

Not knowing how integrated the system wiring harnesses are, I can't say, but I gotta ask this:

Is the Torqshift van throttle cable-driven, or is it fly-by-wire like the 2005+ pickups?
