PCV valve change, without removing the cover?

Ok so I was going to change the PCV valve on my 2005 V10 and I remember seeing that you have to change the whole passenger valve cover to do this.
I went to Rockauto site and seen that the just sell the PCV Valve MOTORCRAFT Part # EV270 for under $15.
So question is can you just remove the PCV valve with out taking the cover off?
Heres another thread I found...

Thanks....Gage

Guess you have to change the valve cover... Not the case with the 2000, but looks that way for yours. Why you wanna change it? Getting a error code?

No I just wanted to change it.....How long do they last anyway?
I was surprised that Rock Auto doesn't sell the valve cover for my truck.
Thanks....Gage
