Glass Measurements

Hey guys,

I need to replace the window glass in my 1948 F5. I have the windshield, one piece of vent glass, and one piece of window glass. I do not have the rear glass. I am planning on having a glass shop make a laminated piece for the rear but was wondering if there is a diagram that shows the glass measurements. I searched this forum but I did not find it after reviewing about 50 posts.

Also any tips on how to get the vent glass out the frame would be appreciated. It appears fused with the metal.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Without a pattern, I would think the best route would be to buy a ready cut glass from one of the several parts vendors. Shipping will be a few dollars but at least you know it will fit. Don't forget, the seals should be replaced with the glass. Sixty five plus YO rubber seals can't be very pliable. Try spreading the frame slightly, top to bottom to remove the vent glass.

Try soaking the edges of the vent frame where the glass is insterted in gasoline. It should break up the glue that's in there.

Make your own templates of 1/4" masonite, then bring the templates to the glass cutter. Keep the templates for the future next truck or friends.

My 1949 F4 is ready for glass. Some of the aftermarket vendors list items for, F1 and F2. My understanding is that the cab of an F1 is the same as F4 and most cab parts are interchangeable. Am I on the right track here and glass will work?

Great, another F4. I bought all rubber seals from Dennis Carpenter and they worked just fine, have sealed up tight. I know of no dimensional cab differences in the F series. Tip: Remove, cut or grind the tabs in the windshield area of the cab.
