Help in Hill Country
Hello to my fellow Ford Enthusiasts:
A few months ago I traded my RV for a 2001 Ford F250 7.3L truck. The prior owner told me that she needed new stabilizer bushings and, as far as he knew, that was about all. I haven't been driving the truck that much due to Diesel prices.
My wife and I plan to get back on the road with another RV in about a year and a half. What I need is for somebody to look at her from front to rear and give me an honest appraisal of whether it would be economical to fix the essential things (body, etc can come later) or trade her in and get another truck.
She starts and runs well but I want to make sure everything is up to par before we hitch something to her and hit the road.
Anybody willing to accept the job (for $$$) or can you recommend a good (honest) show somewhere in the general San Antonio (north preferred) area.
Thank you very much for your help. I want to make it to the fix-it weekend if the answer is "get it fixed).
Regards from Hill Country (Bandera, TX )

Jennings Anderson Ford in Boerne has a good shop, and several great diesel techs. I've never used Heimer Diesel on 16, but he's right there by you for just a quick look.
I'll be down in Pipe Creek for Memorial Day staying with a buddy who's formerly out of a Ford shop, but he did mainly 6.4/6.7L warranty work and drove a 6.0 so he isn't as up to speed on the 7.3/4R100, or else I'd put you in touch with him. If you had a 6.0 we could take care of that for you

Thank you Sir for your information on the two shops. I have meant to stop by Helmer Diesel every day but just haven't had the time. Will also check out the shop in Boerne.
As I said I would just appreciate an honest opinion on the vital components (engine/transmission and suspension).
Thanks again to all replies.

to be honest most of the good diesel mechanics are in the Rigs
But I know some people who specialize in 6.0's but know alot about 7.3's.
Well actually its the shop I used to work at, the workers used to work at a ford dealership and ended up opening up a shop. Its always busy in there but its here in Uvalde
