Rubbing down pipe, body lift?

Should I do a small body lift to fix my rubbing down pipe? It is driving me crazy hearing that thing hitting the firewall. I have tried to adjust the turbo so it wont rub but it is so tight the best that I got was about 1/32" off of the firewall and it rubs on the firewall sometimes when I'm driving. I only want to clear that pipe not do a crazy tall body lift maybe 1-1.5 inches. My body mount bushings are totally rotten and squished. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Replace the body mount bushings and you'll likely be fine. That will lift the body an inch or so from where it is now.

Agreed, I would "massage" the firewall before i did a body lift anyway.

I should have used the 8# massage tool while I had the engine out.

Make some cuts in the floor pan seam then use a long piece of pipe as a pry bar to push the firewall in. Lifting the body won't necessarily make more firewall clearance, in fact most body lift kits specify "not for diesel" because of clearance issues between the cylinder head and floor pan seam.

I believe massaging the firewall is included in most how-to versions of turbo installation.

It is cut and smashed in a bit I guess I will just have to take the down pipe off and move it back some more.
