Transmission Connection Leak

Well after trolling this website for the longest and looking through various parts sites and schematics I can't figure out what this leak is coming from on my C6 Transmission

What are you wanting to know, where it's coming from? 'Cause I see fresh red ATF on that fitting there.

Sorry, for clarification what connection is this? It seems that it has been tightend down too tightly as the plastic is worn and deteriorated and has been a problem for a while. When in doubt top her off was the previous owners motto.

Ah, I was wondering what that was too. On my C4 the speedo is on the left side... I think. Been a while since I've looked.

Anyway, OP, if it's anything like my C4 there's an O-ring seal. Replace and hope it works.

I thought it was odd to be on that side but what else could it be?

A speedo cable is the only thing I can think of that would be that far back in the transmission. It's almost like it's hooked up to the governor though.

if he has cruise control the speedo cable would be going to a different location before routing to the cluster.

Freakmonger Welcome to FTE & the Bumpside Forums.

There is a huge amount of air rushing through there because of the huge opening in the grill area, so look forward for the leak. Follow the wet. I suspect your leak is at the front seal of the tranny and the wind is pushing it to the rear. Speedo connectors usually are not big leakers.

jowilker is right. You could also start by cleaning it and then take a drive. Then re-inspect for the leaky culprit. In the pic it looks like most if not all of the tranny is fluid soaked.

If you look closely at the floor board in second pic (top left)you can see it has spun off the universal covering area with tar looking gunk. Mine did that when it was leaking from rear seal. Obviously, there is another leak and I would lay money on front seal or where cooling line connect.

I'm thinkin' it's leaking from multiple sites. Like there is too much fluid in it. Maybe it's got the wrong dipstick in it so what looks like "full" is actually too much. What is the engineering number off your dipstick? I'll cross it over and see if it is correct.

You are checking the tranny dipstick when the engine is idling at operating temperature... right?
