Does anyone have a resource for the locks for the pop-out rear windows on a super cab? Mine are so hard to move I am afraid I will break them. Now is the time to replace them I feel. The hinges seem fine it is just the lock/swing.

I have set of pop out windows with the locks still attached I believe. They're in the garage, but I have to shovel about 3feet of snow out of the way to get in there. If you're interested, PM me then I'll get to shoveling.

 

I understand that the locking part is the same from the Pintos and Bobcats. If you can get someone here to give you a part number, you could probably find them NOS, or in the junk yard.

 

I know LMC has the windows and the plastic hinges. I know I have to order the plastic inserts my self for my supercab wing windows. If you want used whole windows,they are on ebay time to time. I,myself, am wondering if there is a plastic cover that goes on the outside of the handle. Looks like there is a recessed place for a snap in cover to go. Any trucks that I have seen have no cover on them??

 

Do you mean hard as in hard to latch?

If so, often the window seal gets super stiff when it's old. One solution may be to replace the window seal and they might not be so hard to close.

The roll pins that go to the metal/chrome arm do tend to rust or get stiff. They can be pressed out and replaces with a cap head screw and cap nut. This may fix any stiffness in movement for the hinge. It also supplies some holding pressure that the roll pin cannot supply.

 

Yes they break very easy, usually the top or bottom plastic arm. My SC parts truck had one side top arm break when I just looked at it. I was looking to parting them out to a fellow FTE'er...

That's handy, I am searching for the same thing.....I just haven't taken them out yet as I was scared to break window...Is there a trick to it?

Does anyone have any of the latches, with or without the window laying around they would be willing to sell? Cannot find them anywhere. I am located in Maryland and the junkyards do not seem to having any old dentsides. Or has anyone retrofitted the 70's supercabs with any newer window latches that worked? Thanks in advance.
