Fuel line

I need som advice. Upon removal of my rear fuel tank one of the fuel Lines slipped off once I pulled off the safety clip no fuel line removal tool needed. Am I safe to put it back together this way or should it be replaced. If the line wasn't connected quite all the way would that cause it.

Subscribing.

I found the same thing last summer on my front fuel tank. It was on the return line (or so I thought) so I just put it back on, but now that tank causes the truck to lose power at about 1/2 tank level. I'm thinking it's actually an issue with the puckup tune/shower head, but I can't help wondering if that fuel line is part of the problem - or maybe it wasn't the return line after all...

Anyway - I plan to fix mine when I do my bed swap. I recall looking for a fuel line replacement, but either not finding one or finding it too expensive for my taste at the time...

Again, no guarantee it's the clip in my case, just maybe.

Let's see what the real experts have to say!

Did you try reconnecting, and then try pulling it apart again by hand? Maybe someone worked on yours previously and didn't push it in far enough to lock it. I'm no expert, only done three of these and never encountered this, but I'd say if you reconnect it and it feels secure when you try to pull it apart again, it should be a go.

No I didn't. I'm in the process of making it fill up because someone managed to crimp the inner hose almost completely. Anything more than a dribble from the pump and it would back up and click off. I spent about 5 minutes trying to fill it one day and you couldn't tell if the gauge had moved. Needless to say I haven't used the rear tank yet. I found a oversize tank at the parts store for a really good price because someone had ordered it and never came back so I thought, why not. Anyway the rear tank has been replaced. So that may be the answer. I have to pull the float out of the old tank so I will hook it up and see then. Thanks
