How hevy trailer can i put behind my truck

I have a 1979 F-150 4x4 LWB 302cid, 4 spd manual, NP205 transfer, Dana 44 front axel and Ford 9" rear. Lifted 2" from factory.

The tag in the door frame says GVWR 6300 LB, Front GAWR 3150 LB, Rear GAWR 3580 LB

The truck weight is abut 4200 LB whit driver and fuel.

Can I legally pull my cartrailer whit breaks, GVWR 6000 LB?

I have the same but mine is 2wd and automatic. Trans cooler, brake controller, extra leaves in the back. Pull 16ft extra wide trailer with my 1944 A John Deere on it.

It may depend on where you live and where you are going to use it along with what you are using it for . When i had my construction co. before I retired . I had a 150 SC 2 wheel drive 460 - C/6 trany ,i pulled a 20 ft. flatbed to haul my tractor with a loader on. I had to have commercial plates on both truck and trailer. My limit was 10,000 lbs. I was over most of the time with tools and all in the truck, but never got pulled over.

I see you have the name [ Norway ] , if that's the country Norway you live in then you need to check there , it may be different that the U.S.A.

Yes, I live in Norway in Europe.
My truck was exported here in 82, and dos not have trailer weight written down in the registration papers.

I bought the truck 1 year ago, and have used it for hauling my car trailer many times. Abut a month ago i was stopped by the police and got a ticket for pulling my trailer.

Now I'm trying to get the correct trailer weight in the papers to haul legally. But it's not that easy. I have been in contact whit Ford Norway, and they cant help me get the right papers.
I need some document to verify the correct weight, but where to find it?

what were you ticketed for? what was the violation? presumably to ticket you, they had to know you were in violation, over weight or not following an equipment law regarding towing. assuming you were ticketed for being over weight, i would think that the police would have to inform what allowable weight is?

are the norwegian cops suggesting that YOU actually require some sort of official documentation from Ford listing towing capacity? is there a law on the books stating that all vehicles operated in Norway must have a stated towing capacity listed?

Over here, if your combination commercial plated truck and trailer is over I think, 26,000 lbs, the driver needs a CDL lic. Most people don't know this,(me included) until a co-worker got bagged last summer for driving a F-350 with a bobcat on a tagalong.

I got a 1000 usd ticket for driving whit a trailer behind my truck. One of the straps I used to hold the cargo to the trailer got lose and was hanging behind the trailer on the road. The police car was driving behind me and pulld me over. The title for the truck didden't have a trailer weight.

Yes every car in Norway, and Europe has to have trailer weight in the Title if you are gonna use it for pulling a trailer.

We also have difrent licenses

CAR B = up to 3500kg = 7700lb
Smal truck C1 = up to 7500kg = 16500lb
Truck C = from 3500 kg --> above

I found a link to a download for a 78 F150 owners manual. Not going to post here, probably against the rules. Does not even list a 4x4 F150 with 302, but with 351M, you can tow up to 6000 lbs with HD towing package, C.O.M. trans (auto), 3.50 gear, and super cool rad package.

For a GVWR of 6300, max GCWR is 11000, which flies in the face of a max weight of a 6000 lb trailer (only allows 4700 adding them up). It does say 4 speed with overdrive transmission (SROD???) is not recommended for towing.

Closest I could find with your engine size was a reg cab, 2WD, 4.9 six (still COM auto), which only allows trailers up to 2000lbs.

Suggest you find local owner with same year who has original owners manual.
