Interesting Story about Scouting for Trucks

Ross,
Cool article. I've been using Google Earth and streetview for similar searches.
I do a lot of traveling around New Mexico and SW TX for my job and I'm always looking for different routes to take (I get bored with the same old highways). So, not only do I used Google Earth and streetview to find new ways to get from Point A to Point B (I don't shy away from hundreds of miles of dirt roads)
Then on the routes I find I always keep my eyes peeled for interesting relics and potential projects.
Google Earth is a great time kiler....LOL

There once was this guy who said he had a stash in his "back 40" so I did just this and it turns out his "back 40" was his back 40 feet of yard behind his house!

Thats how I look for stashes - There's a guy I know that is second gen scrap yard - He also raced Flathead Stock Cars - I've wheedled some stuff from him but I know he is holding out - I googled the back end of his yard and found the three fabled trailers he has - When I ask them about them he denied it until I was able to describe the colors, position and the surroundings - I did get inside one and came away with three toploaders for 25 bucks a piece - I also just found out that he has some land a few counties over - I'm still narrowing that down

Many years ago I used to fly all over Edwards AFB and China Lake reservations doing routine range sweeps before military operations began. I was always finding old cars and trucks had been left out in the middle of no where's ville. Some of them were complete, some not so much.
I don't have a clue how one would get the ok to recover them from the range area but there is a bunch of discarded iron out there.
