Tekonsha Voyager help

I was given a Voyager controller for free because it had a rattle comming from inside.(worked when he removed it ) Well we got it apart and found a small rectangular thingy with what looks like a piece of steel or lead inside. It doesn't look like it broke off from anyplace. Anyone have any ideas?

I can't answer your question, but would simply note a brake controller is an important piece of safety equipment and they are very inexpensive in comparison to their roll in keeping bad things from happening. Even if you can repair it, it may not be worth it.

I'm not an expert on there, but I would guess anything with a mobile weight inside is the inertia sensor. Don't fix it, buy a new one.

Look at the sides/top of the case you removed..... agree it's prob the inertia sensor. Was prob glued on. Or call Tekonsha. They are VERY easy to deal with.

His advice is spot on......a loose piece inside suggests parts are defective, out of spec, or that the controller was damaged due to dropping it. None of these possibilities would leave me comfortable using it........and they are cheap, and for the newer vehicles an easy plug and play.

Looks like it might fit into the slot in the round part near the bottom of your picture.

I also agree that for safety's sake and others on the road....a new one.
