Engine noise - very cold temps
I have an engine noise on cold start when the temps are about 15 deg F or below. It doesn't occur unless it has cold soaked at these temps or below. I first noticed this sound last winter and decided at the time to wait to see if it would get worse and easier to reproduce but it hasn't. I attached a video so you can hear the sound.

It sounds like it is coming from the accessory drive belt area as it's loudest when I put my ear right in front of the Ford emblem. I've heard this type of noise before when I've had a bearing go bad on something in the accessories. I'd normally put a stethescope on it but I can't get anything into that area because it's so packed. I had the tensioner, both idler pullies, and the fan pulley replaced but the sound is still there. I'm thinking it might be a bad bearing in the fan clutch.
Does anyone have any experience with what a bad fan clutch bearing sounds like?
Any other ideas?

Hi folks,
If your truck is making a strange noise, your best bet will be to have your dealership check things out. They'll determine whether or not your vehicle is performing normally. As always, I'm here to offer up my assistance whenever possible; you can always reach out to me via PM if you need help.

Thanks Crystal.
I'm the same guy from thedieselstop that posted over there (same handle on both sites). My post here is just to get more ears on the sound to get more ideas of what to look at.
I've been working with the dealership and they've been great as has Ford. Unfortunately pinpointing the source of the noise on this is very difficult and since it's not covered under the 5yr/100k warranty (assuming it is in the accessory area) just replacing things gets very pricy very quickly. With your help Ford did assist with the cost of the pulley replacement we just did (about 80% of the cost) but the noise is still there.
My focus is to pinpoint the source of the failing part and eliminate it before it leaves me stranded or catastrophically fails and takes out a bunch of other very expensive items nearby.
Since others are hearing the same thing do you think the Ford engineers would be interested in taking a listen to the video?
I'm leaving the truck with the dealer all next week so they can listen again and try to determine the next step to take. Hopefully the weather will continue to cooperate and provide some very cold nights. :-)
Thanks again.
