Question about tire pressures

Not about the X...but pertinent I believe

So when I bought the Caddy it had the tires at I think 26 psi. P265/70/17 Goodyear Wranglers. Max load is 44 psi. So I put them at 44 psi to test things out until I had time to sort out the tire pressures.

Door jamb says this:
At 26psi, the ride was spongy and sidewall flex was scary.
At 44psi, the ride is harder than my Excursion, but tracks nicely.

I don't trust the 30psi requirement. I remember the early 2000's and Firestone incidents in Texas (was there and had a set of the tires).

What do y'all recommend? I'm currently at 38psi and testing. In the picture below you can kind of see where the outer edges are not wearing and only the middle is when at 44psi. I intend to keep lowering pressures until I get a nice even wear pattern, but still maintain a safe margin above 30psi.

Been a while since I had P rated tires...and I remember the door jamb sticker snafu Ford had with the early X's.

For that size P rated tires i've run 35ish psi on some f-150s.

but don't take advise from me, i'm the guy with C rated snow tires on my X at 35psi for winter....

Ty, on that tire with those weights Russ is right (first time for everything) jk.

I would go 35 ( since you don't have huge temp changes) and ^^^ add from there all manufacturers put low psi ratings for ride/comfort.

You will probably settle on 37.

it's currently at 38psi and the ride is 100% better. it actually rides like a Caddy at the moment

going to give it a few days and watch the scrub pattern to see if I have full tread scrub. if it's still centric wear, then I'll drop the pressure to 35psi and see.

the Caddy isn't as heavy as the X...but I'm very hesitant to run low pressures. I run 55 psi in the X tires and they're wearing very nicely and evenly. Load range D for those. These freakin' P rated have me discombobulated
