Hello all,

I have recently noticed my gear selector on my truck vibrates / rattles. It drives me crazy

Truck is 1997 f350, 460, automatic e4od

If I just put my hand on it with barely any pressure the noise goes away 100%

Is there something I need to tighten up? Something broke?

 

Mine makes noise but it is just the end cap where the OD button is... Is that what yours is or the whole shifter?

Mine only does it when I get a bunch or rocks jammed in the treads of the tires and the off balance vibration makes the shifter rattle just enough to drive me nuts..

 

Mine is also just the end cap, I do have mickey Thompson mud tires on it also.

This just started happening. I no I have to put ujoints in the rear driveshaft though.

Someone suggested popping the end cap off, and putting a few dabs of RTV where it goes together. Sounds like a smart idea, I just havnt gotten around to it yet...
