Most trucks like these are pieced together from many left over project parts, as I've been looking too (or an IH 6sp special). I hope to add the oil lamps to mine as well, and a friend got a cab with them but he won't sell yet. A tandem would be cool! I wish you luck!

For more info on these, I recommend Wagner's book, 'Ford Trucks'

So what I'm seeing is that today's cowboys with their 5th wheel hay haulers didn't invent this type of 'mini-semi' in the 80's. Very cool. And Havi, you are right on with that book. I'm on my second edition of Wagner's FTS05. The first one eventually fell apart from over-use. Back before the information super-highway, I was dying for some info about my '38 tonner, so I called directory assistance for Detroit area, and got Wagner's number. He was very knowledgeable, but more than that, very helpful and friendly. Duh, he's an old Ford truck guy......

Looks like it's neighborhood is relatively flat. Hate to be driving that in the Rocky Mountains. Or Orcas Island! But it is a way cool rig.

Let's hope they added air brakes! A lot of old mechanical brake log trucks had water resevoirs added to cool the rear brake drums on those long down grades. Note this truck seems to have the semi-floating rear axle. The full-floater was introduced in '34. And juice brakes in '39.
