Rock Auto parts Good or bad??

I am looking at buying a bunch of auto parts for a few trucks I have that I want to fix up. I have been using Napa auto parts but noticed lately they have gotten very pricey. I have seen Rock Auto Parts advertised on the TV show Truck U. Anybody ever use Rock Auto? Was the experience good?
I have a 2006 Ford 6.0L that need a new fuel level sensor, Dealer quoted $483.75
Napa quoted $597.00
Rock Auto list is $273.89

Why the he price difference??

I recently ordered an AIS intake from them and their service was great and delivery was fast.

I have ordered some sway bar links from them that were supposed to be greaseable, the had fitting but the grease would not go in. The hole went to nowhere.
Last week I ordered a new cat con for a 2001 v10 and even though it fit the cat was moved about 8" forward in the pipe so one of the hangers could not be used.

These are the only two times I have used them and to me that's not a very good track record. But YMMV.

Lightning fast delivery, rock bottom prices. I think the pricing is relative to low markup with high volume and no middleman or frills. Basically theyre a couple of warehouses and a website. It works, order from them often. Check the specials too, awesome deals on closeout and overstock parts.

I have always had good luck with RockAuto, I used them for years, most of the prices can't be beat! I currently have a large order consisting of all the front end parts for my plow truck. There is usually a discount code on the forum somewhere.

I've been using rockauto for a couple years now. I've gotten wheel bearings, disc pads 7 brake shoes, calipers, drums, rotors, plug wires, and different suspension pieces. I have always been happy with them and their service. I work on friends vehicles and use Rockauto faithfully. A couple of times I came across some parts they did not have but thats rare.

Thanks Guys! I have a few items I want for my 6.0L but if there is a chance it wont fit or work right, I sure don't want to tear into that motor only to have to do it all over again. Worst motor ive ever worked on. What complete cluster of unnecessary parts? stupid emission crap takes up 90% of the motor

They generally have a few mfgs to choose from for most parts, so you can skimp if you feel ok with it or pick another brand you're comfortable with for important parts, i always at least comparison shop there, and more often than not, buy there

From my experience, you don't save any money using them. Iv checked between O Reilly Auto Parts, Rock Auto, and Amazon.com. After you add shipping, O Reillys and Rock Auto are usually nearly identical. Amazon almost always has cheaper prices, but not always...

They often list OEM, known aftermarket and unknown aftermarket parts on the dropdown menu after you select your part category. Stay away from the unknown super cheap stuff and fitment will not be an issue.

Thats exactly the opposite of my experiences there. I recently picked up a pair of NOS Budd calipers for my Imperial (very hard to find part) for 123 bucks each plus core. Same order Bosch plugs (closeout) for the 440 @ a buck seventy each.

Wish I had checked Rock Auto out sooner. Did all new brakes on the front of my F250 and from Orielly was $465 and some change to do 2 new calipers, 2 new rotors and a set of mid grade pads.
My Calipers pistons were all cracked and broken! guess the guy before me got them way too hot?
Never seen the pistons damaged before and Ive done a bunch of disc brake jobs over the last 30 years.

I always order from them.. Plus every order gives you a 5% discount for your next order.. I have bought heads, bolts, gaskets, ball joints, starters, alternators, sensors, mirrors, fuel pumps, even spark plugs.. You name it I have got it from them.. Easy to use and super fast shipping.. Best way to go if you can wait at lleast 3 days for a part..the savings make up and some even with shipping.. Check regularly..they do closeouts on dine items and they sell for Pennies on the dollar..

I have always had good experiences with Rock Auto. As mentioned, avoid the cheap unknown brands and stick with well known manufacturers.

It does help to do your research elsewhere as the descriptions and pictures are not great on Rock Auto's site. If you already know what part number you want, they will likely be the lowest price.
