Question Gas Tank for a 50

Just recently purchased a 1950 money sponge, er I mean truck. Have been reading all the great ideas for a rear end swaps, etc. Gave me some good ideas and starting points, so thanks. Wish the previous owner would have looked this site up instead of just strapping an old gas tank under the rear so it only fills up 3/4. So my question is, does anyone know of an easy swap I could make that would not make my truck a live genade if it ever got rear ended. Thanks. Also, just for some debate, frame swap vs. upgrades (new rearend, power brakes, power steering, etc.). Looked like it was going to be much cheaper to find a 78 T-bird with a 302 or 351 and bolt the truck body to the chassis, because then the PS and PB and Reaer end would already be there and mounted versus find them individually and mounting them. But have heard good and bad on the T-bird swap. So if you have experience with this, please either encourage me or warn me. Thanks again.

Paul
