I just inherited a 2012 F150 Fx4 Super Crew. Nice looking truck, but the wheels are stock 17" steel. UGLY!! Any suggestions on upgrading to nicer looking wheels/wheel covers w/o breaking the bank?
Check out Ebay or your local Craigslist. Lots of guys are upgrading their factory 18" and 20" wheels and dumping them, many cases with tires, for $1000-1500 a set. Ebay has lots of wheel options right now. The nice thing about factory wheels is that you know they'll fit.
I'd recommend putting up a WTB (want to buy) ad on Craigslist. I did and was contacted in about a week by a guy looking to sell the wheels and tires off of his yet-to-be-purchased FX4. I picked up all 4 wheels and tires (18" FX4 w/ Wrangler SRA tires) with about 20 miles on them for $700. His tire shop where he purchased his new wheels and tires stole the TPMS sensors out of the factory wheels to install in his new wheels (he didn't know they were taken), so I had another $250 in expenses when I mounted my winter tires, but I have 4 factory wheels and 4 more SRA tires for under $1000.
Yes, craigslist is a good idea and I'll do a post. In looking at what's available for sale, 18" seems to be a popular size and 17" are almost non-existent. I was trying to keep the same tires but that may not be feasible.
My wheels are 17x7.51 with 265/70 R17 tires per door sticker. I guess that's standard for an FX4 work truck. Any idea what the steel wheels would sell for, if anything?
If you were closer I'd take them off your hands. I actually was thinking of getting a set of the 8 hole steelies and painting them black, and keeping my 18" chrome pkg wheels for spares. There are plenty of tire sizes available for 17" and the tires are cheaper

Thanks for the advice.
Are you sure FX4 is proper? FX4s did not come with steel wheels. It sounds like you have a XL trim 4wd truck. FX4s would have been spec'd with 18" alloys, typically the "wrench style" that we often see, or the 20" option.

Ok, you guys are right. It is 4WD, XL trim. FX4 was a step out on my part. Anyway, do all of the late model F150's use the 6 lug pattern that I have, or are they different based on trim packages and wheel diameter?

After buying a set of XLT Wheels, I put my steels on Craigslist for $100.00.
Then lowered to $80.00, and haven't had a hit.
