Ignition cylinder removal challenge

The old ignition cylinder won't turn to the accessory position, and the driver's side door cylinder dosen't match. So I got a new set. Of course today I figured out I need to turn the cylinder to acc position to line it up with the pin for removal. Any ideas on what's preventing the cylinder from turning or what to do?

Or should I start drilling..............

Try a spare key? Jiggle the crap out of it while trying to turn? Try pushing in on little pin hole while trying to turn? I'm out of idea's. Buy a new switch.

Ok here's my question. How many ignition switches are there for these trucks? I thought I remember my dad saying there was something like 6 or 8 different ones. And they didn't all interchange. I know his 77 150 custom had a recessed and lighted ingnition switch. But he claimed that was original to the truck, but I swear he changed that. I think he wore out several switches over the years. And that was the last one he put in the truck before giving it to my brother. I was thinking that if possible I might like to put one of those in my 78 150. And yes I already know good luck finding one of those, cause I haven't seen another one since.

I look at only the 73 to mid 77 with a small style electrical connection and then the 77.5 to 79 having a bigger electrical connection.

The 73 to 79 all mount the same way. I have never seen a recessed or lighted one on any 73-79.

Well his was recessed about a 1/2 inch at most in the outer ring bezel of the switch. And it had a green light that emitted around the lock cylinder of the switch. And like I said it was the only one I seen like that. I wonder if the late sixties Mustangs had something like I'm trying to describe and if they would interchange. I also know that my dad is the type of guy that you can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth.

If 77&79 hasn't seen one and you have only seen one, makes me wonder if Dad didn't switch [no pun intended] the original out with something else. Betcha Numberdummy would know.

If any one will have the ability to look it up in the parts book it's ND or mikeo0o0o0, since MTHB is cruising other roads these days.

I have seen a passenger side sun visor mirror with a light, its in my blue truck.

Thread totally hijacked now sorry. My bronco has a lighted visor in red. But the flip open door is broke on one side so the light doesn't turn on any more. just more thing to fix when I restore it.

yep mine's a Ranger XLT. Most guys would consider it a lost cause now. A number of years ago I had 2 walls fall in on the poor truck. That was in it self a major set back. Not to mention other things life in general brings our way.

Oh I know all about life and what it throws at you.

Door skin, mirror, cab roof, windshield, drip rail, liability only....

I was real lucky the carport did not fall back down on both, ugh.
