Goodbye 6.4 Hello 5.0

I went back to gas for a few reason the main one was the cost of owning and maintaining a diesel. We are expecting another child in June and I was looking a few ways to save some money and going back to gas was one. I just wanted a simpler engine that was naturally aspirated. I also really didn't need a diesel. I didn't haul enough things or heavy enough things often enough to justify owning one. Maybe someday I might go back to diesel if we ever get a travel trailer.

Congratulations on the new truck!
I went back to gas after a few years owning diesel Super Duties and I'm happy with the decision. The 5.0L makes a lot of power for a half ton truck and returns great fuel economy as well. You're also going to enjoy the roomier crew cab of the F150.

My tuned 6.4 returned an average of 14.76 miles per gallon. That is a hand calculated # with 40,000 miles of data over a 23 month period. As for the 5.0 I can't speak for it yet. It is too early to tell.

Thats what I think too, trades just cost way too much, even if you have a problem vehicle, it's usually more expensive to trade. They just make it convenient because they speak in "payments", not dollars.

I have the same concerns. The cost if something happens to my 08 6.4. A friend has a new 150 5.0 and gives me crap about the need for a diesel truck. We hooked to my 8000 lbs boat and drove the same route with both trucks about 15 miles. All he could say was D#M. He has no need for a diesel but if he did the 5.0 would be gone.
But there is still the concern of a major repair bill.
GOOD LUCK

Going back to gas has crossed my mind as well. I bought my 6.4 anticipating buying a newer, heavier boat and towing it a lot .
Well, I did get the new boat but I ended up keeping it in a slip, in the water 9 months a year and now I only tow it once in the spring and once in the fall.
The F-250 is paid for, so I'm going to hang on to it for the foreseeable future.
