going to look at 95 bronco for sale what should I look for?
I'm going to look at a 95 bronco 4x4 auto a guy has for sale it has a 5.0 in it .Besides the rust issues over the back wheels what are some other issues broncos are known for and what should I look for?I was told the 5.0 is under powered?.its got about 109k on it and the guys like the 3rd owner I think.it does have rust over the back wheels cause he's got fender flares over the rear to hide it and he wants like $5,600 but I did a kbb on it and it says its worth $4500 that's if its runs good.but other than that I wont know till I go check it out.thanks for the info.

If you buy a Bronco you buy a project.
Look for service records, Look for fuel pump replacement, look for the shaft in the column that breaks and the steering column has to be taken apart to fix it. Look for alternator replace.
I have the 1990 5.0L Bronco and it does alright in the power department.

If your in a rust prone area check the front coil buckets, radius arm mounts, rear shock mounts, leaf spring mounts, hangers and shackles. These are know problem areas on pre 96/97 Fords
If it has a lift check the front crossmember where the pivot brackets bolt on. They are know to crack VERY easily

I looked at it today and im pretty sure the ball joints are no good I watched the guy turn the bronco and the front wheels were wobbiling outwards would that be bad u joints? or ball joints?like the ball .what would a shop charge me to put in new ball joints or front u joints?also the 4 wheel drive would not come out onece the button was pushed in.i just pushed 4 wheel again and then drove about 7 feet but it wouldnt come out even though the 4 wd light went off he had to drive it another 15 feet or more for the 4wd to go back in 2wd but the 4wd push button was pused back to 2wd.not sure what that would be but doesnt seem like anything cheap to fix.the 4wd low did not work and the push button on the dash was very lose like it was coming off the dash.rear shackles were brand new he replaced it has no lift kit on it.thanks

Ball joints can cost up to $500 or more depending on the shop. It's a labor intensive job.
Don't worry about the 4x4 not coming out. That is normal. You have an electric motor trying to shift a gear & often the truck will need to roll forward or back to get it to engage or disengage.

I had a nice 93 Bronco XLT with the 5.8L engine. I bought my F-250 Super duty new and the salesman liked my Bronco so much he wrote me a check on the spot for it for $5,000.
The truck you are describing has had a very hard life and you should walk away from this one.
For that kind of money the truck should be complete, no serious rust other than surface problems. Everything should work too, except maybe power windows or cruise control.
I would look around and be ready to travel to get the right vehicle; believe me you'll save yourself a lot of pain and money.
