Bedliner for Fifth Wheel Truck

I am seeking advice from the assembled experts. I really like the BedRug concept because it protects the bed to be like new and yet provides a nice surface for people, things, etc. For my F250 Crew Cab with 8' bed and fifth wheel I am thinking perhaps I can cut a rectangle on three sides for the mounting point leaving one side intact. Then add Velcro to the four sides so the flap sticks down when hitch is removed but can be folded back when installed. What say ya'll?

Neat idea. Option 2 is to remove the rug when using the 5th wheel.

What kind of 5th wheel do you have? Mounted on rails or it sounds like you have the hidden hitch/factory type with just the pucks.

I just have a spray-in bed liner, but don't see any reason you idea would not work.

I went with a spray in liner for mine too. One less thing to have to deal with removing, wawashing under, etc. I think the bedrug idea would work though, I just prefer spray in liners.

Bedliner for Fifth Wheel Truck - protecting bed and knees

I have not actually received the truck yet, ordered in late Oct and due to arrive ~31 Dec and I want to keep it looking new for as long as possible given the investment. From previous experience I know I will scratch the bed hauling things very soon after receipt if I don't get something in there. It is the Ford built-in Pre-installed 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Hitch Prep Package (53W) 1 frame under-bed cross member, 5 pickup bed attachment points w/plugs and 1 integrated 7-pin connector on driver's side pickup bed wall. When the hitch is stored, I should have just the pucks on the bed floor.

Correct. That is what I have. If you got the spray in liner then I would call it a day. Otherwise line x is good to go as well.

First off, I don't see why your idea wouldn't work. I think the bedrug zips togethr though, would it not be possible to just unzip the bottom and roll it up in the front of the bed? But I could be wrong on that.

I personally have the factory spray in liner, but after screwing it up before the truck had 1000 miles on it, and the dealer seems to have no clue how to fix it, wish I would have ordered without and went Line-X. I still keep a heavy rubber bedmat in my bed that isn't cut out for the 5th pucks/gooseneck. Makes things like mulch and stone easier to get out. For short trips with the gooseneck or trips where I don't need the bed I just roll it up under my toolbox, if I need that space I just drag it out.

Thank you so much Ferguson65 for taking the time to help me analyze the options.

A small comment should you decide to go with a spray liner. Go with Line-X as it has a lifetime warranty. If it gets jacked up they will repair it for free.
