So I emailed this guy about his truck on the last auction. Here is what I sent him:
So he reply's with this:
So I sent him back this, he never did reply:
So he relisted the truck after it didn't sell and added this to his description:
He is so full of dung it isn't even funny. He is just another typical snake in the grass preying on an uninformed buyer.

Your trying to sell this truck as a 4wd F-350 but I can assure you that it isn't. Your VIN number which starts with X25 designates the truck was originally a 2wd supercab. Also the first year for an F-350 was 1979, that VIN number would be X36. I can also assure you that the 33K mile claim your making isn't going to be correct considering the truck has been modified. If it had only 33K miles on it then I can only presume there was no need to change the mirrors. Those mirrors were not an option on any 78 or 79 model F-series truck.
I sold this truck new, my father owned the dealership we sold it out of. they did make a 78 350. and it is a 4x4 and it is original miles I know for a fact since our dealership has serviced it, its whole life. also if you use a Ford vin decoder It reads exactly what I just said. knowing your information is wrong, would you like to make an offer?
Yeah OK....I've been working with these trucks so long I don't need a VIN decoder to tell me you have problems with the VIN on this truck but you can take a look here to confirm what I told you about X25/X36: 1973-1979 Ford Truck VIN Tag Codes (Series) - FORDification.net
You can also follow this link and it will state that the F-350 is new for 79: http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/7...-wheelbase.jpg
Look specifically at the F-350 models. X25 means the truck was originally a 2wd 3/4 ton supercab. If you take a look at X36 that is for a 1 ton 4wd supercab.
How come the mirrors were changed? As I stated those mirrors were not an option on any 78-79 model truck. Do you have documentation to back up your 33K claim on the mileage? If you sold it new you probably have the original bill of sale to?
Knowing my information is correct I wouldn't want to buy the truck, to many problems with the VIN number not being correct for what the truck is. Knowing this information is incorrect I'd suggest you might want to inform prospective buyers as to what they are really buying.

You will notice that the steering column is from an Automatic transmission truck, and this one is actually a Manual transmission. Reason being, the original owner wanted a manual, and had the dealership switch out transmission before he took it home!

I'd like to see the VIN stamped on the frame. 100 bucks says the seller doesn't even know about that one.
Yes it is a nice truck but the seller needs to be honest about it. I highly doubt that it was originally sold there.

But it only has 33K original miles, why the different lights? Why the wrong mirrors? And I don't believe his transmission story.

Nice truck, yea the steering column/trans story is a little strange. And yea the clear marker lights are not my cup of tea either.
I would have to change the mirrors, yank the rust magnet cab visor, pull the old man running boards, cxl that I am old, I might need them.
I also notice the yellow Zbart treatment plugs on the door, cab and cab back. And you would of thought a XLT would have a/c....?

For what it is advertised as and what he has with a VIN number I wouldn't pay 10K for it.

I'd like to see the frame VIN because that is probably going to be correct.
