aftermarket heat AC and defrost
#2
I put a Vintage Air in my 60 about ten years ago. They didn't have a kit for a 60 with a 223 six so I just got a universal kit and with some minor fabricating here and there I got it in and working. It works great I use R12 which is getting expensive but it's far superior as far as I'm concerned.. The last long distance trip I took from SoCal to Chama NM with 100+ temps all the way I was really glad to have it. I use it all summer every year. The heater doesn't get real hot but I had the same problem with the original one, I run a 180 thermostat and can just never get the engine hot enough for some reason.

Hey SD93 check this out.
1957 - 1960 Ford Pickup Truck Air Conditioning System | 57 - 60 Ford Pickup Truck AC
This is what Walston has in his I think, and what I want to put in mine when the budget allows.
Not sure if this system will utilize the fresh air in take?
But A/C, heat and defrost.

System works quite good and was well designed. There are two old threads that show the installation I will find them and attach links. I did end up replacing the fan with an electric one as the heat load is much more in the summer and the engine mounted one struggled in any kind of traffic.

I guess the real question is about how this thing fits in the cab since you will have a different engine. All in all I think it worked quite nicely. The fan unit is bigger but it almost looks stock.
