JY Builder: Lo-buck OEM-look Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner
... 'had some time to kill so decided to have a lil fun with a $10 air cleaner off a 73 F350 Ranger XLT Camper Special.
1. Used a caliper to locate the closest mounting hole of the snorkel from on-center and then transferred the location to the opposite (Driver) side.
2. Marked and drilled the mounting holes.
3. Guesstimated an outline of the opening and also accounted for flanges to maintain its strength. Cut it out and then cut vertical relief slots on the horizontal flanges.
4. Bent the flanges over using an adjustable wrench and filed smooth.
5. Temporarily mounted the extra snorkel with sheetmetal screws.
I'll strip and paint it up one of these days... Might fab up some new snorkels to get rid of the thermostatic door and heat riser port underneath. In the mean time, it's garage art.

Heck yah. That looks JUST like one of the rare intakes from the 1953 F-1.5 that came with the factory 427 Super Cobra Jet Cammer and fuel injection, Australian hemispherical heads and an air cycle machine for A/C!!!
They'll recognize it straight away!
Also, cool idea.

Here's an idea.....How flipping the snorkels upside down, do some slight mods, and sourcing cold air through the hood like the 71-72 GTO with the Ram Air option? Hmmmmmm.
