4.6 engine question

I need to replace my 4.6 out of my 97 f250. The salvage yards around here want to much for these junky 4.6 tritons($750+ for ones with over 200k..)

So few questions:

1. I can get a 4.6 out of a crown vic with low miles, like 90k out of 96 vic. However is a single cam and I'm not sure if it will work with my intake/sensors and trans?

2. put the 5.4 in, which is cheaper then the 4.6 oddly.. However I have no clue what all i have to change to do this, all threads i read give conflicting responses.

3. rebuild mine since the heads etc are not warped. The head gasket failed, but truck never over heated, did lose power. However it as well over 200k, possible 300k (mileage stopped working at 159k years ago). number 1 spark plug had never been changed in this truck, and around number one cyl is where gasket failed(found out after pulling the heads). I only had truck a month when this happened, So probably not worth it.

4. find out what engines i can use with my intake and trans, and i have been having a VERY hard time getting reputable answers to this or finding them online.

I would guess it's probably don't know, it's very rare that the engine go's be for the truck any more...
For what its worth a 4.6 is a 4.6 if you have the old and the new you should be able to swap enough stuff to make it work. Possibly 300k, is it worth your time?

Idk either
With al the differences in just the truck engines you
would really have to do your research
iirc there are 2 different crankshaft/flexplate bolt configurations
I could be mistaken on that
good luck keep us posted
