mine is a 1979 F250 Custom Explorer SuperCab Camper Special, everything original.

I find black and chrome headlight bezels on the web to buy.

I think Custom and Ranger had black bezels standard with an option for chrome bezels. Higher trim levels had chrome bezels standard.

But mine has grey bezels (and a silver/ chrome grille insert).

Is that a special of the Explorer trim? Or because it's a Camper Special? Or is it just faded out and was black originally?

I believe with the XLT package you get a chrome grill insert and head light bezels or with a Custom or Ranger package a argent grey and black grill insert and head light bezels.

I am pretty sure Ford did not offered a mix in the grill and light bezels finishes. Usually the black are cheaper than the chrome.

I have had both and like the chrome depending on the rest of the trucks chrome package. I masked off the chrome front edge of my chrome grill and painted the grey back part black.

All black looks good in some applications.

1st pic is grey edge and black inserts, 2nd pic same truck just chrome inserts swapped in after a quick paint trick. And a new bumper and OEM push bar.
