I have a 78 f100 custom drag truck. It has a built 302 that I'm going to swap for stroked 351w. I have access to several motors to use to build from so what I'm need ing is help on either a 408 or a 393 I don't know anyone whose built either but they both get alot of good marks. I will use a factory block so what year is the best to hold up for torque and power. I will run probably a 150-175 nitrous setup. And the motor will be carbeurated.

Of the two I would be going with the 408. There really isn't anyone better to ask about strokers than the guys at ford stroker they are a two man show and ford small blocks are all they do so the only negative is wait time. You can get it faster from others, but you might be faster than those that went with others.

I am in the process now of saving for a ford strokers 347, but mine is my daily driver not hot rod. Good luck.

Probably not with the kind of motor he's asking about. Just me but I'd invest in an aftermarket block before doing anything else.
