Bubbling paint on front edge of hood
Anyone else have their hood paint bubbling on the front edge? I have an '05 that has it and it eventually flaked off.
Now the '08 is doing the same thing. I took it to the dealer because it's still under the ESP warranty, but they said it's not covered. Everyone seems to know it's a problem with the aluminum hood but nobody seems to care. It's obviously a known issue.
Has anyone had any luck getting this covered by Ford?
Thanks.

I am also disappointed by this. I was looking at used Expeditions recently (maybe not completely seriously) but it's amazing how many 2007-2009 Expys have paint bubbling on the tailgate and hoods. One 2007 had the beginnings of rust coming thru one of the rear wheel arches as well. More rust than my 2002 E150.
Factory rustproofing and painting technology has come really far since the 60's (when every Michigan car had rust holes at 5 years unless it was Ziebarted) but it now seems that Ford has been doing something really wrong on what should be its flagship SUV. I'm kind of disgusted at this... A high end SUV or truck should be close to flawless for a LONG time; this is technologically possible.
Ford should be bending over backwards to fix this corrosion problem, at least through the end of their regular rust perforation warranty and beyond. And like their mod motor cylinder head designers from the 90's thru mid 2000's, their paint engineers involved in this should be standing in the unemployment lines.... Unless it is the bean-counter accountants who should be standing in those lines (and the latter is my strong suspicion).
Isn't the Expy the costliest Ford nameplate vehicle there is (on average--and not including a GT40 or something)? They really should take some pride and responsibility toward owners on stuff like this.

I see the OP's vehicle has a problem with the paint at the front edge of its hood. My 2000 Expedition has areas of peeled paint at the sides, where it meets the fenders. I have a feeling the vehicle had an overheating problem which the previous owner never informed me of (I recently installed a new radiatior and it hasn't overheated since) and I'm speculating that before I bought it it may have overheated a number of times and steam had escaped through the area where the paint came off. Only speculation. I haven't actually seen the kind of "bubbling" paint issue on the hood of the kind that apparently has been a problem with Expeditions through several model years.

This is a problem that has plagued various Ford, Lincoln, Mercury models from 2000 to 2017 - and will likely continue to plague them for years to come as Ford has made no effort to correct this manufacturer defect. If you want to pursue the issue legally - and if your vehicle is less than 15 years old you should - Zestar is a good place to start. Also check out the Ford/Mercury Peeling Paint Complaints page on Facebook.
