The only gain IMO by going to a dually is stability when your load isn't distributed correctly. You will lose mileage by going to a dually, you'll also lose mileage by putting larger tires on it, you're adding 2 more tires that need to be changed and for a 16 yr old it will be tougher to pay for that, and lastly at the end of the day the truck is still a 2wd that is lifted with big tires. The truck will also be quicker the way it is now than it will be with big tires and being a dually.

I was 15 when I got my OBS. I have been where you are. You will be best off to keep the truck 2wd and single wheel for mileage sake and let the truck do work. I'm glad I left mine as a 2wd until now and put the money towards other things.

Thats what I think. Duallys are cool, but if you're going to put big aggressive tires on something, do it to a 4 wheel drive. If you're going to lift something, do it to a 4 wheel drive. I feel like I'm being a Debby Downer, but oh well. 2wds really shine when they are left alone because they get so much better mileage. Leave it the way it is. It looks great and sounds like it does it's job just fine. Give it some help in the performance department and you'll love it even more.
Thank you for your reply, I want to do something really unique, I am still considering the dually, I don't know to much about them, what's the advantage over the Dana 70 vs the 10 1/4?

The Dana 70 was only in the F-SuperDuty cab and chassis trucks. That rear axle won't fit in your truck. The 2wd dually pick ups have a 10.25 Sterling axle.

Hey guys i know it has been awhile my truck is running great except my gpr is shot so she wont start with out being plugged in, i think i am going to order the stancor relay? But i have finally got a build going for it, i have finally figured out she is made to work an pull an get good mpg, with that gearvendor, pre airbags rear suspension and being 2wd, shes a work truck. I am going to go the more race truck stance route, doing stuff you rarely see, heres my plan, please let my know what you all think, ditching the 18s on 35s going to a 20x12 or maybe 22 fuel renegade, i like the fuels because they are rated with a higher weight rating, then going with a performance street tire, i would love to go with a nitto 420, possibly doing a drop shackle in the back just to get it a tad bit lower, but not crazy cause she is going to be towing alot! then thinking about doing a roll pan rear bumper. i need help on the exhaust i still am just running a down pipe? I have a ranch hand on the front, i really dont wanna take it off i may paint it but we will see, white traction bars, inside will get newer king ranch seats, tint, audio system, for my first set of injectors going with a full force stage 1 180cc, then tuning re done by dynoproven, then by then my trans will need some beefing up, along with a t500 or something along those lines then maybe an intercooler an d66, efuel is in the near future, also doing a lower pro light bar mount custom made to fit a curved bar, what do you all think so far? i will post some recent pics

Your trans will need a little more than "beefing up" as in you might consider a BTS or John Wood with all of the HP additions. Sounds like a good plan though.

I need to change that, i have the mindset now that i need to buy the best to be the best, its not a tight budget, it just will be spread out over time maybe one of these things every month ya know? im extremely tight with my money but when it comes to truck parts well when i first started this a little over a year ago let me just say i was clueless haha

If it were me, I would just drive it until it breaks but have the $$ set aside for a GOOD trans...Like $4-5k...It might be good for another 50k or it might break tomorrow. Any idea who rebuilt it?

The stciker on the side says a ford rebuild, a bunch of people that ride in my truck and the way the gearvendors is set up they think its not a stock rebuild. It does fine with the extreme tune from tony.

I'd just roll with it.

Agreed. Unless you think you can sell it outright and pick up a core to have built it's worth no more as a working core than it is as a smoldering pile of burned up metal, lol.

Your plans sound pretty good, though I agree this is no longer a "build up on a tight budget". There's at least $10k in parts in that list (counting the BTS).
