Shock Advice....Need to Order Tonight

Hey guys/gals,
I ordered a Pro-Comp Nitro Lift Kit for my 2006 F250 (2.5 front / 2.0 rear) & was going to order Rancho 7000 series shocks & a Steering Stabilizer....

To make a long story short ive called Rancho 2 times because there catalog/agent applications dont match exactly, which gave me a uneasy feeling as i dont want to have a torn down truck (lift installed) & not have proper shocks
My idea now is possibly Shocks (9000 series) & Stabilizer from Pro-Comp, which is also much cheaper

Question.....What would u order & does anyone have experience with Pro-Comps 9000 series Shocks (already know Rancho 7000's are widely used)

I have the 9000's on my truck they came with the my lift kit. I've had them for alittle longer than a year. Since your truck is coil sprung it would be difficult to compare the ride. The only thing I'd say to do to them or any of the other white painted shocks is put a few coats of clear on them before installing them to keep them looking nice, if your not going to paint them a different color like I did. They are soild shocks I like them but if the kit I bought didn't come with shocks I probably would have sprung for the bilstien 5100's.

Nice point on the finish Mike
I didnt even think of that & the Rancho 7000's are "Brushed & Zinc Plated with a Clear Coated Finish" which gets them ahead in the Finish Dept.

I would not get anything procomp personally. I love my rancho 7000s, why can't you seem to find ones for your truck?

I would also never get bilsteins. Too many issues and lack of warranty response for me

Just because of their finish doesnt mean they are bulletproof. My friends bilstiens after 2 years you would never know they looked like mine. Im planning on buying some clear vinyl wrap and wrapping my shocks to protect them

Oh i can get them Miles but there was a discrepancy between there Catalog & what the Representative told me.

Basically i have to get the Front Shocks for a 2.5 Lift but in the Rear i need the 4.0 Lift #'s & after i called back because i was very confused (got the same guy again...lol) his reasoning was Rancho's 2.5 Kit does not lift the Rear like the Pro-Comp does so i needed the Shocks from Rancho's 4" Lift for the Rear....
I know confusing as hell
After alot of surfing iam still wanting the Rancho's, i guess i feel they must be good because Ford used them & so many people on here do too.
I guess i was looking for any feedback on the Pro-Comps, also the Rancho's are just about $100 more for the entire set but if there worth it I dont want to skimp now & regret it.

Gotta decide before i go to bed considering i ordered the Lift Kit yesterday (which was recommended to me by 4wheelparts & comes with Solid Blocks) so if i want to get installed this weekend i have to push the order button on shocks.....

Ok ordered the 4 Rancho 7000's & a Stabilizer, the Rancho's ended up being only about $73 more than the Pro-Comps ($332 Shipped)....

I ordered from a company called Race-Mart outta Tampa & verified w/the owner Paul everything was in stock (they were), he said if i ordered tonight they would go out tomorrow. Since FL is close to NC getting them by the weekend should be easy....

Oh he also told me not to worry about fitment, if the Manufacturer (meaning Rancho) game me the #'s & they were wrong there would be NO Charge to me to get the correct one's as long as i had the Rep's name (which i do)....

So i guess no worries

Part the part numbers you purchased.

Perhaps the Rancho rep will pop in.

I have the Pro comps in the rear and they are decent. They do not come with boots so those need to be ordered seperate or 4wheel parts keeps multiple colors in stock.

Curious to know why not the Rancho 9000's with there adjustability considering you tow?

For 2006 F250 with a "level" on it, look to RS7043 (front) RS7254 (rear) that is what we suggest. Enjoy the shocks!!

LMAO
Thanks for the response but this is Exactly the problem
Apparently your "Level" Kit only does the Front & i ordered a Pro-Comp Kit which raises my Front 2.5 & the Rear 2.0

Your application guide:

2.5-in. RS7043 RS7254 2
4-in. RS7044 RS7261 2
5 - 6-in. RS7048 RS7261 2
Stock RS7043 RS7254 2

Iam hoping Tyler is smarter than the person who made your Catalog, he told me its listed this way because Rancho's 2.5 Kit only changes the Front & since iam also Lifting the Rear 2.0 i need the 4" Shocks

I ordered:
Front = rs7043
Rear = rs7261
Damper = rs5413

*In fact the Steering Damper listed on your site for a 2005-07 is RS5415 which is actually for a 2008 +
Looks like Rancho needs to look at there Application Chart's

I will say iam more nervous than ever, i know Rancho makes great parts but they wont do me any good if my Truck is not drive-able & iam somehow stuck with paying Shipping 2 more times.
Iam praying they are right but if they are wrong i better not eat S&H cost to get correct parts after i called Rancho twice

I'll let u all know what happens (fingers crossed)

Why would your truck not be driveable without shocks? Id drive mine without shocks, and if it makes you feel better just use the old ones they just won't perform right

Driving without Shocks would not be recommended my friend, when the vehicle is bouncing its losing contact with the road & can easily cause an accident.
^^^^ Iam sure the Rancho Rep could explain this better ^^^^

I could use the old ones if i had too as long as they still reach i guess
But if a fella call's the Manufacture's Catalog/Tech deptartment twice he should get the "right" shocks the first time is all iam saying BUT we dont know yet so i dont want to get excited either way just yet....

Take an old Hot Wheels car and set it on a table. Pick up the front about 1/4 inch and then let it go. See how the front suspension bounces the entire front end back off of the table?

OK, now imagine your truck doing the same thing. This is what will happen without a shock absorber. When the front end is bouncing you will not be able to steer. Also, that front end will keep bouncing until the energy in the springs is dissipated, or you hit another bump.

Even back shocks are better than no shocks.

I suppose, I drove with oem shocks for 5000 miles and when I took them off they had 0 resistance. Just went up and down with no effort
