Question about the MLPS on e4od on a 96 powerstroke.
Had a snap on ethos + hooked up to the f350 powerstroke. Trans was throwing codes p1705: P/N not in range and p1728-trans slip fault converter clutch.
Scrolled through scanner and noticed that when I would put truck into Reverse the scanner would just show Park Or Neutral. Then I would move it to N-D-2-1 and it would read correctly and give me the correct voltage readings.
Put the truck back and Reverse and started jiggling the **** out of the shifter....scanner showed rev finally and showed the correct voltage. Which I believe is about 3.6 v or close to that....cleared codes and trans started shifting fine again.
Fast forward to yesterday. Bring truck home and notice on scanner that Reverse was showing P/N and Neutral was showing O/D
Now the truck has 290k on it and that shift lever feels a little loose. Is there a way to tighten this up I'd imagine this can cause an MLPS issue? Ill get under the truck today and clean the sensor up and see if I can adjust that according to spec too.
Thoughts?
