Anyone try the BD low fuel pressure warning light?

I was cruising XDP's site and saw this, then checked the spec's at BD, the light goes on if FP drops below 50psi. I haven't wanted to add a FP gauge due to dollars and mounting a gauge, so this could be a reasonable cost alternative (10% off this weekend across XDP's site, btw ).

Definately not a bad idea...but for another $54 you can get the gauge.

Yeah, I had to go to BD's site to find the pressure setting, Benny..

Thanks Money-Pit: So all the kits I looked at (and it wasn't many) were in the $200+ range -- is there a $130 gauge kit out there? or is it something you have to make up from parts? I'm not totally opposed to a gauge.

The little light is just finding a visible spot in the dash and drilling a small hole...

I think you have white face gauges. I bought one of these in black.

Riffraff Diesel: Fuel Pressure 0-100 PSI

They have different styles, pick your color. Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts: - Isspro EV2

Edit....true, you have to then get a pod to hold it in....then you have to decide if you want 1-2-3-4...or 12 gauges!

Me too and truck runs great, but folks say even the bluespring can get weak or you might have installed wrong -- it's always something to worry about, isn't it?!

50 psi or below is the low alarm setting -- you missed that in my 1st post...

Money-Pit: thanks for the links, I'll take a look -- but you are right and I don't want a pillar gauge set, or one just up on the dash, then you're looking at places to make a clean mount in the dash.

And, then I have to get the wife to look at it when she's the one off on a trip (red light would get her attention tho )

Very true, it would be quick and easy. If you didn't want the expense of a gauge or gauges and the pod to hold them, this would be much better than nothing. My only concern is if the sender stops working, or is incorrect, how would you know?

You're absolutely right....in your case the light may be the best option for you.

And that too is an excellent point! Do you know of a gauge that has a warning light capability?

I don't know of any FP gauge like that, but it's very possible someone makes them.

But either way with Light or gauge the sender could mess up and give false reading

The only thing I see is with a gauge you mmight be able to determine the sender died easier then a light because erratic movement or no movment at all

But either way Light or Gauge is Better then Nothing

IIRC they have gauges with warn lights but IDK anything about them would have to find a pretty specific gauge that had a Light to trigger at set PSI

Thanks for Posting Scott it gives us another option and I do know there has been FP sender problems are common so maybe the Light wouldn't be so problematic IDK

Isspro EV2 gauges have a programmable warning light, works great. I put the fuel pressure and oil pressure in my truck.

According to Ford if I have 4psi at idle I'm good. (I know,,not funny)

What's the significance of 50psi though? I had a 66 Ford pick up (352- 3 on the tree) that made 0psi at an idle and 15psi on the road. (Changed aftermarket sender and gauge) 2 years and it was still going strong when I sold it. If our 6.0's are having trouble keeping the HPO resivour full we'd pick up on that with running or starting issues. If you had a gauge you could compare oils and such and see trends as your oil shears down or whatever, but a light at 50 seems like it could be an annoyance to me. If it did come on what would you do?
