Phonetically Speaking of Course.

The thread about CB Handles sparked this post.

How many of you out there have need to use the Phonetic Alphabet ?
I know Greywolf does due to his military Job.
I seem to have to use it quite a bit when giving my name over the phone. No matter how hard I try to use the correct enunciation,it seems I end up using a P/A to get the letters right.

THE PHONETIC ALPHABET

A - Alpha N - November
B - Bravo O - Oscar
C - Charlie P - Papa
D - Delta Q - Quebec
E - Echo R - Romeo
F - Foxtrot S - Sierra
G - Golf T - Tango
H - Hotel U - Uniform
I - India V - Victor
J - Juliet W - Whiskey
K - Kilo X - X- ray
L - Lima Y - Yankee
M - Mike Z - Zulu

ie:
In reporting Dangerous driver's to the Police.
Ordering something.
Leaving my name for a call back.

I bet I use the P/A 5-6 times a day.

How about You ?

I use it when I am doing SAR calls if I have to spell something out. We try to use plain english when speaking but if it is loud or bad reception we have to spell sometimes.

I use it constantly being in the Army. Once you learn it once or twice its easy to remember.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Sep-02 AT 10:28 PM (EST)]Cool monstra!

I use it for flying and use it on the phone. However those on the other end usually don't understand it.

Occasionally, you will hear a really cool call sign like: 66Whiskey Foxtrot, that one just sounds good.
