Not a pickup but of the same vintage. A tad overpriced I think.

$12,000 seems high to me too. Nice truck, and with it running a 429, a fun truck too.

'79 F350 4X4 Supercab in northern Idaho. I'm puzzled by the mention of a "divorced transfer case." Could it be this is a Marmon-Herrington 4 wheel drive conversion? There was a member on here a couple of years ago that was restoring one.

It means the transfer case is not mounted directly to the transmission tailshaft, but has a short driveshaft in between. A "married transfer case" is mounted directly to the transmission.

Yeah, I know that... ...but on a '79?? Either the seller doesn't know what he's talking about, or someone swapped out the drive train (note the ad says he has an extra engine/trans/transfer case for sale), or it's a Marmon-Herrington conversion. The pictures do not reveal the driveshaft angles.

Ah, it's the "factory" claim that caused the confusion. I'll join you there - probably swapped by a PO and he thinks it's original, or something along those lines.

Here's an example of a Marmon-Herrington 4X4 conversion: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...1979-f350.html
Definitely a divorced transfer case, but note that the front differential is on the passenger's side. The second picture in craigslist ad shows the front differential is on the driver's side, which leads me to believe that it's a factory original 4 wheel drive, or that someone converted this truck to 4 wheel drive using pre-77.5 drivetrain components. If I didn't already have one of these trucks, I'd go check it out, because it looks like it's in good condition. If the VIN starts with "X36," then it's a rare F350 4 wheel drive supercab.

If anyone remembers peterson's 4wd magazine's cheap truck challenge, this truck was featured a few years ago... A tad bit pricey, but it sure is sweet!!
