i am pulling the transmission tonight and seeing if the other noise is torque converter. It seems i am chasing my tail a bit. I put a stethoscope on the engine and only could hear the noise when in gear, under torque converter noise seemed pretty obvious. Thank you both for posting, I will reply when i am done with this check out, it will probably take till Friday night to get this done. Thanks again

Man, i cannot thank you enough. I got under the truck with a stethoscope and had my wife put the car in gear, and that is exactly where the noise was coming from. Pulled the transmission and got a rebuilt torque converter. It is purring like a kitten now. I still have to break it in then get it inspected to get it back on the road. Again thank you!!! from up on top it really sounded like an engine noise, but once i got underneath and moved the stethoscope to right under the torque converter, with it in gear, there was no doubt.

 

Good job. Noises are impossible to describe over the internet and sometimes nearly as hard to locate the source.
