Ramblings of an F100 Noephite

I have a '72 F100 and it is my first. Like many, I'm doing the work by myself. I have removed the engine and transmission, as well as, the interior. During this exercise I have learned a few things: 1. You need the people in FTE; 2. Don't expect the national part stores to be much help; 3. the rear engine support is actually on the tranny; 4. the engine will not balance on its mounts; 5. it's best to drain the tranny's oil before removing it; 6 if you are going to clean the engine compartment get a first aid kit; some people will drill a hole even if they don't need it and lastly do it because you like it.

BTW where do I get the bushings for the shifter rods?

From my experience, most of the countermen (and counterwomen) in the chain parts stores would be surprised what they have on the shelf too. For anything oddball, I usually look the parts up myself on their website and then walk into the store armed with part numbers.

Which location, what type of bushings, rubber or nylon that snap in?

Located at the bottom of the steering column under the hood are the two manual control selector levers that the shift rods attach to.

Shift rods attach to two selector arms on side of trans.

Thanks numberdummy. I need the ones on the 7302 assembly, I think There is nothing there to compare. In technical terms: There is an ear on the steering column (inside of the engine compartment) that connects to a rod that goes to the side tranny to change gears. The rod is adjustable the tranny end.
