I got the drivers side studs and springs done today. Went pretty well. I had to raise the motor for just the one back one on this side too. Took a little hammering on the firewall to get it out too, but I got it.

I should get it back together tomorrow.

My brother in law also picked up the dually axle I bought and brought it to me too. Once the front hubs I bought get here I'll have all the major parts for the dually conversion. Probably some bearings/etc. to buy, but nothing big. Except paint, but that will have to wait till probably summer.

On the front hubs, do they have to be different then like mine because you have a 4 by 4?

 

Thanks Glenn. I'm glad to get them studs and springs done. Ya, they are different hubs. I can just bolt my rotors to them. They have to be off of a cab and chassis front end.

I forgot I do have 2 more tires to buy yet. I want to mount 2 of mine on the wheels I got and make sure they will work ok, and what I'll need for spacers between them. I'll set them on my axle on some jackstands and see how it is without weight on them. They are kind of wide for a dually, but I think they will look good and save me the cost of buying 6 new ones now when these are in pretty good shape. 265/75's.

Not until after christmas Bill. I need to get a 4 inch pipe to modify yet, plus won't have my 5 inch exhaust until then either. I may need my pickup in a week or two to haul the skidloader out to a job (weather permitting) so I don't want to disable it until I'm done there.

 

265/75s will need wheel spacers on most duallys. When loaded heavy, I bet the tires will be touching or at least really close to touching.

 

I'm sure you're right Travis. I'm hoping a 1/2 inch spacer is gonna be enough.

Sounds like you and Bill are going to have a real nice setup to tow with Darin. With all that motor work, have you thought about bigger sticks at all? Lol. Plus, when's that York air gonna be in!!??

 

Thanks Todd. That york air keeps getting put off for other things. It will happen, but I'm not sure when. The compressor is laying in the shop, has been for a few years now. I'm kinda glad you brought that up though, I need to get after it. We'll see what this winter brings. It won't cost much, I have everything for the most part, just need to put some time in and do it.

As far as bigger sticks, I am really happy the way it tows now so I have no plans for them. I am going to put a water meth setup on it sometime, can't afford to now though.

I didn't get it done today, my back decided I had better quit at noon. Valve covers are ready to go on. I've got 2-3 hours of things to wrap up tomorrow.

 

Understandable. I'm just trying to spend someone else's dough! Lol. If I ever get to do what I want with my truck, York air is definitely on the list. I plan on going 38 gallon rear tank, eliminating the midship and putting an air tank in its place. Then again, I've got lots of plans and no money! Lol

 

I wanna do on board air on my truck bad! It would be so handy for some of the stuff I do, but the main reason is......the train horn! LOL!!
