My 2002 Excursion Build
Day I bought her
Now that I've finally done some real mods, and have goodies coming in the mail this week.
Suspension:
Front:Exterior:
oh yeah, I put the factory gas lid back on. Stupid corroding aluminum
Suspension:
Rear:
- "F" codes from a 2005/2006 F-250 - Custom modded with AAL taken from the factory "G" codes the X came with. Gained 2" of height over stock, but maintained mostly same ride quality. It's a play on the popular modded "B" code that most guys do.
Front:
- Custom AAL taken from OEM rear "G" codes and added to OEM front leaf pack. Gained 0.5"-1". No more bottoming out. No real effect on ride quality
- 2" lift shackles (waiting to install)
- Quad Shock mount (waiting to install)
- Quad Shocks (waiting for delivery)
- OEM 16" alloys painted black with chrome hub caps
- 315/75-16 (35" tall) Nitto Terra Grapplers
- 2008 Style Tow Mirrors
- 2006 Style Headlights with DIY Harley Mod
- 2006 header panel
- 2012 FX4 Realtree Sticker
- Shiny tailpipe
- Fleabay El Cheapo Backup Camera
- Remove cladding (I'm lazy...it'll happen )
- 2006 grille (waiting on funds)
- 2006 style bumper to finish conversion (waiting on funds)
- 4x2 Rear Hatch Struts
- (waiting to install)
- 2010 F-150 rearview mirror with LCD screen
- 3 carseats and a tween girls stuff
- Leather Seats (waiting on funds)
- Swap console to jump seat from 08+ truck (waiting on funds)

Tylus, That truck looks so sinister! Any grill updates planned? A color matched mesh grill would be soo sick!

I got them off eBay. The seller had regular chrome lights and a Harley version as well. I'm not a fan of their Harley light, so I bought the Chrome version and did the DIY so I could get it to my liking.
Quad Shock perches and new sway bar bushings
and a better view of the tires
I like how the tires sit flush. I'm likely to end up buying spacers and flares...but for now it looks very nice

Some of the pics are in front of my house on Ford Island, and some of the pics are from an Aircraft hanger on the other side of Ford Island. The Navy has really built up the island in the last few years. I can barely remember it from 2002 to present. I imagine the difference from 80's/90's is that much more dramatic
The shocks don't make the ride any rougher. I've had quad shocks on F-150's/Bronco's from the factory before. Part of the towing package I believe.
They make things more stable. My hope is that the Excursion body roll will be controlled a bit more by having quad shocks up front. Hawaii has some pretty crappy roads with lots of dips and off camber sections that keeps the body rolling around like crazy. Plus, they look cool

I had a blown out passenger side sway bar end link, and when I bought it there was a brand new MOOG drivers link installed. I replaced the blown out link about 2 months back
and wouldn't you know it, but the problem moved on down the line. the next weakest part failed. now the sway bar mounts where it bolts to the axle are blown out. In the pics above you can see the new MOOG mounts. I just haven't had time during daylight hours to put them in. I think my drag link is going out as well. it has more play than I'd like. she still drives straight down the road, but I've got about 1/16 of a steering wheel slop. Maybe my imagination, but the slop seems to be increasing
looks like I'll be rebuilding my entire front end shortly. luckily the knuckles and bearings are in good shape.

I didn't know that, i thought about getting dual shocks once but everyone said no the ride sucks lol. I'm in the process of rebuilding my front and practically to fix my trucks "i want to turn...and now I don't" issue lol.
