Summit raceway is just down the road from where I live. Although you can take the car down and run it, after jumping through some hoops. No trucks last time I checked. Pity.

When I think of a SD doing that speed I think of a flying
brick, Not much control when you need it.

Also when you pull int to refuel you should
have then remove the smashed Hondas from
the grill. Really helps cut down on the drag.

Lol! You'd be surprised, they actually handle great and you can be going 100 easy and not even know it they ride so nice. You just have to be aware of its handling charictaristics, you don't wanna go top speed first time in any vehicle, work your way up slowly and get used to it so if the need should arise you know what it will and won't do and can drive accordingly, such as needing more stopping distance and not being able to drift the corner at 50 like little car can, lol

It isn't the speed alone, it is the conditions and traffic. In the vast areas of emptyness, mostly out west, speed limit of 75 (or more) going 5 over is common. but so is the ocassional person going 60 and semitrucks going 70.

Urban hiway there are folks (i was young once too) who risk themselves and others for the ability to get 2 cars ahead on the exit ramp. Doing this on a motorcyle primarily they risk themselves, but in a SD your mistake risks others to a higher degree.

My ex feels comfy at higher speeds but i like relaxing while driving so i try to go speed limit + 2 and hangout in the right lane..

My F350 can creep up on me if I am on a long flat empty roadway.
Like the ones between Sacramento and The Grape Vine Hill coming
into LA. So very easy to creep. One thing nice about cruse-control.

But you very right it can sneak up on you and you don't want to have
to make any sudden changes.

Is it even possible to get to 7000rpm output shaft speed with a 6.2? That would be somewhere near the redline in 2nd gear, forget it at anything after 1.516:1 in 3rd.

Not saying anything is IMMpossible, people come up with unique ways to destroy things everyday. But is the driveshaft what blows up at 125mph in a SD? I'd vote the tires before anything else.

FWIW with the 265/70R17s my truck goes 80 without me knowing. With 34s is was boosting enough for me to realize I was hauling the mail. But that''s below my (IIRC factory) speed limiter of ~87mph, which I'm hoping is fairly conservative.

I've sustained 111MPH in my current Excursion w/5 star tuner for about a mile, before Denali National Park on the Parks highway. handled like a dream nice and solid.

seen almost or right on 120mph before in my old Excursion, again felt great.

My new F-150 hits the limiter very quickly! right at 100mph is when she shuts you off.

It's kind of an interesting subject, and I wish I could find specs on this. The heavier the shaft is the lower the critical speed; most calculators place a ~60" shaft with 4" tubular steel with a critical speed of around 6,000 RPMs. The thicker the steel the lower the critical speed is because the shaft is heavier. A truck with 4.30 gears and stock tires is doing around 5,500 RPMs at 125 MPH.

Took the kids to the Pa renaissance fair off the Pa turnpike. On the way home at 7pm I had cruise set to 65mph which is TEN over the posted limit! Not three miles after leaving to come home I was being oassed by ever truck car minivan and semi like I was only doing 40mph......... so after shutting off the cruise and now hanging in the right lane but staying with traffic 84mph!!!!!!!!!!! I stayed in the right lane for an hour and half down the Pa turnpike all the way back to Nj at the Commodore Barry Bridge just hanging and staying with traffic, point being PEOPLE OUR NUTS ON THE PA TURNPIKE and second the F350 handled like a 2012 Boss Mustang

Tires are speed rated. I can imagine that Ford has the speed limiter set at or slightly below the oem tire speed rating for safety. My 2014 F-350 is limited around 95 mph.

There is nothing wrong with cruising at 80. Mine handles great at 80, but I wouldn't compare it to a Boss Mustang
