337 big job

Hi, would anyone know the dimensions of the 48/51 Ford 337 big job engine, or know where I could find them.

Thanks

Good luck Frank, I got on my mind to stick one in my 97 F350 so it will run.
Off the top I would say Its probably close to a FE 390 or something. Very
close to a Caddy 346 flathead. However they are out there. I have already
machined an adaptor plate and flex plate for a AOD automatic for a 337.
I also dont have the engine but I had the pattern.

1949/51 Lincoln/Cosmopolitan used the same basic 337 flatty V8 engine, except these cars could be had w/3 speed O/D and 1950/51's with optional Hydra-Matic.

The heads, carb and exhaust manifolds are different, I would assume the crank is too.

Installing this engine in Lincoln's was a last minute decision. The original plan was to carry over the 292 V12 flathead that was installed in 1941 & 1947/48 Lincoln Zephyr's and Continentals.

1942/46's used the 305 V12, it was even worse than the 292 V12 that had a reputation for smoking like a chimney, knocking like a bill collector.

Lincoln/Cosmo specs: 336.7 cid / B&S: 3.50" x 4.38" / Compression ratio 7.0:1 / Brake HP 154 @ 3,600 RPM

btw: 346 Caddy flathead V8: 1937/40 LaSalle (Cadillac 'companion' car offered 1927/40), 1937/48 Cadillac. Replaced by new 331 OHV V8 in 1949.

I know this isn't the whole answer but for reference: The 337 head gasket is 21 7/8" long (not including a tab under the thermostat housing vs the Ford/Merc at 18 5/8".
