Mesh Grille Opinions

Hey guys I'm having a debate about possibly switching to a mesh grille. My thoughts were either get a Full mesh grille or get a Mesh insert like the ones made by RBP, Fuel Offroad, Royalty core etc. My plans are to add some pocket style fender flares eventually and to paint the mirror caps and mid section Grey to match as well. I don't want to over do it though but i feel like the Mesh might flow better and I was going to get a grey and black ford oval to screw down to the middle of the mesh as well. My biggest fear is over doing it lol. I'm not sure if it would make a difference in appearance either but i want to put projectors in these lights and paint the shrouds black with some grey accents. I also may paint the bull bar black and have the skid plate chrome plated eventually.

Here is my truck now:

Here is what i am looking for with the insert. If i did this I am unsure if i would leave my shell chrome or paint it grey to match.

And here is a full mesh grill (thats what i call it) I would paint the shell Grey

Like your current set up. The borders of those mesh grills always looks so cheesy

I personally think the RBPs look the cheapest of any.

I do agree with the RBP looking the cheapest. I don't think i would spend that much either on a grille I was mainly posing that to get the idea of still having the chrome bars between where the billet currently is and the honey comb. I'm trying to think about what it would look like with the other things i was talking about in my original post. I wouldn't mind keeping this grille though, I just don't want it to look out of place and I don't want to over do it.

I do like the current grille but i feel like if i could get one like this GrillCraft® - Ford F-250 2008-2010 MX Series Black Fine Mesh Grille - FX4 only in an 05 style it would look nice with a big black/grey ford oval on it.

The problem with the grills out there is they're all so expensive for even inserts. For what it costs for a replacement grill I would look into doing something else with the money unless you have nothing else on your want list. You've got a pretty desirable setup. Only thing I would change about it would be to paint the chrome edges black like the harley grill. Other then that I think you've got it made.

The plain option you showed wasn't terrible. Personally I try avoid products with huge logos of the manufacturer plastered on them. I couldn't find any wheels without huge logos. If it was my truck I'd leave it alone or start painting black what you want black and go from there. Or get the flares now. I know what its like when you get an ich. Luckily my last ich only cost $25.

Thanks for the compliments btw guys, I guess what really made me think about it was watching youtube videos at work today while waiting for a test to finish. I loved the way this grille came out in this video so i was trying to visualize it on mine since its roughly the same color scheme.

I think your truck looks good with the billet, I would get the inserts to cover the side honeycomb.

if i owned your truck as-is and was spending your money here'd be my plan of attack:

i like your current setup, but would have the surround painted to match, with chrome billet inserts.. essentially the opposite of what it is now. i LOVE those RBP-stlye grills, but i think they only look good when everything is color matched (no chrome anything on the truck).

It's always easy spending someone else's money lol. I do agree they look great but i think it looks best with no chrome at all. I feel like i have a good balance now and i don't want to throw it off.

Here is a thread of all grey trucks with my color scheme and all sorts of grilles. I'm starting to think that the current one is where it should stay, I will just paint the honey cob areas black instead of the weird goldish chrome its got going on in there. I think my plan of attack is going to be the Flares (mainly for inspections and getting pulled over...yes it happens near me), PTM metal door handles (so i dont rip them off in the winter), and projectors once 02TB250 does his so i can see how easy it is and they if a mesh grille will fit better ill think about it lol. Also instead of starting a new thread what do you guys think i should do with my interior? its the only kinda...blah spot in the truck now plus my seats are starting to rip...i was thinking black or dark grey with carbon fiber accents or something.

Color Specific Thread...GREY - PowerStrokeArmy
