Hello everyone. I'm from Europe and I just had seen old 5gen Ford F in one festival. There was no owner to talk,so I tried to find info about this cars, but there aren't a lot. So I want to ask you guys what it is gas mileage and top speed of the 5gen with FE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V8_engine motors and 4x4 drive, approximately.

Welcome to FTE.

Gas mileage--8 to 13, depending on what you are doing.

Top speed--With a stock engine, probably 100 mph, give or take a bit. A bit less if you value your life.

LOL I did about 115 in mine about 20 years ago coming down a bridge. Its called the sunshine skyway and I was racing my brother in his 95 f150 SB truck. He had a 5 spd with a 302 that liked RPMs. i was in my 74 SB 360 c6 3,0:1 Let me tell you the valves were floating and I was blowing smoke out the back pretty bad. "I had a new 390 on the engine stand ready to go" But the old 360 took the beating and kept running. From that point on I have never had a bad word to say about 360s accept no power.

I've had mine up to 95-100 a couple times. It handles well up there but there's just no need to go that fast in these trucks.

If I had a new mustang, I'd drive 100mph everywhere! Haha

top speed

In 1975 I got 131 @ 5500 rpm /3.50 with built 460 . I had no idea it was going that fast until we calculated it out with tire size. It had a wide ratio top loader at that time so there was no converter slip. Never tried that again.

69 long bed, 3 on the tree, stock 360, 2:75 third member out of late model LTD.
1st to 50 mph, 2nd to 75 MPH, 3rd to 100, needle stopped and still had pull. speedo 30% off.
Driving right, 23 MPH with A/C on from Texas to Mississippi and back.
Gear set up was bad on valves and in town driving was hard on bottom end. Either too high RPM or chugging in 3rd.
Won my fair share of street drags tho

Did 90 the other day down the highway. There was more in there but I was afraid the rest of the truck was gonna come apart.

Based on: Speed Potential Calculator For Ring Gear And Pinion Changes

My theoretical top speed is 175 MPH

5000 RPM, 3.50 rear gear, 0.68 overdrive, and 28-inch tall tires.

Excludes aero drag, wheel slippage, and the size of mi cajones. LOL.

I don't go over 90 MPH. Anything over that in these rigs is ludicrous speed!

My mighty mite 240 tops out at 78mph.
I did have my '34 up to 95 or so at Sears Point. It started to turn into an airplane so I shut back before the traps.
I go about 130mph in 737s at take-off and that is good enough for this old guy.
