Fix for 40/20/40 seat cupholder?

the rubber ears that stick into the hole for the cups on my cup holder are bent down and really flimsy.

has anybody got a fixed so that it will actually hold a cup in place?

Can you take the rubber piece out? If so just get some thick gasket material and cut it out to the right shape. Cut the ears into it with a razor and reinstall.

I remember the cupholders you're talkin bout... I just can't visualize the rubber in them anymore. Been 3 years now since I had my 94 F-250 with that style seat in it.

Now with that being said, is anybody know how to take apart the cup holder assembly? Mine has broken tabs because some idiot decided to force it and it busted. I didn't know if you were able to actually take a thing apart, so I wouldn't have wanted to try.

Pretty sure they are not meant to come apart. Mine did, can't recall how it happened though. To fix it I simple drilled some holes through the top piece and pop-riveted it to the lower piece, called it good (I'm not much of a perfectionist, more function & cost over looks).

using the one in my truck that was a bit busted, I saw which way the tabs needed to be pushed to pop the assembly up without breaking the tabs on a JY piece. Was a success that just needed a little patience and a very thin flat bladed screwdriver to lift and push the tabs over. Found a non busted lumbar air bladder as well. And a few other odds and ends.
