More old truck auction pics

Went to another auction yesterday about 200 miles away. One mans collection....130+ vehicles. Lots of Ford stuff to see, quite a few bigger trucks. Most of the pickups, etc were in pretty sad shape......rusty, dented and no titles for most. Mainly parts. Stuff went pretty cheap but all I bought was a F100 chassis with a 223 in it for parts.

Enjoy

This panel was what I was interested in.......complete but pretty rough. Sold for $1700 IIRC.

All I can say is Wow! what a collection! Here in the rust belt those trucks would have trees and briars growing through them and over them...

Got to love the west as a source of old cars and trucks with sound, rebuildable bodies. My wife and I travel a lot in that direction and I have often fantasized about bringing candidates back to NC for our hobby. It would be a business fueled by passion and love and I would probably lose my back side financially, but every time we ride around in that country, I am soooo tempted to stop and ask the property owner if they would consider selling the gem sitting in their back yard.

Thanks for sharing the pics. You have refueled an old dream.

Logistics and transport of this stuff is difficult and expensive......sad to say but most of those big trucks went for scrap.
I have several vehicles for sale I could have sold many times, but the shipping is prohibitive.

I saw several vehicles I would love to have, or least have the parts from. Finding decent sheet metal and a replacement Timken rear for my F-2 is damn tough here in Indiana.

The first series of photos, the last one specifically, brought back memories. The little car on the right side of the frame is a Morris Minor I think. Always thought they were cute. Knew a guy in the Navy who had one. Brakes went out one evening, and he crashed it into the barracks. The concrete wall didn't give any, but the front of that Morris sure did.
