Visit to local dealer...pleasant surprise!
Hello everyone,
They recently remodeled one of the local dealerships here in San Antonio TX and I was there buying some parts this week and I when I went to the parts counter I saw this huge picture (at least 5 or 6 ft wide) of a 48-50 Bonus Built Truck...please see attached pictures...I believe it is an F4, correct me if I am wrong...I always wondered how the pinstripes on the argent grille looked like and I found my answer that day...Best Regards
Luis

That should be a 50. The 48 had the S/S bars and Tan around the headlights. IIRC the 49 was argent silver on the bars and Ivory around the headlights and in 50 they went to all Argent Silver.
Edith's grill color is not correct, but I like the Ivory as a better contrast to the Palisade green than the silver.

If you don't mind, I'd like to "bump" this thread......
As far as can be determined for 1950;
All the grills were Argent regardless of body color.
All the grills had the double red pinstripe across the bars regardless of body color.
Tucson Tan was a 1948 only grill color.
Cream (forgot color name) was started in/around 1954.
So if I choose to paint my 1950 F1 Palisade Green, It should have an Argent Grey grill with double red pinstripes..... if I want to be true to original.
How did I do?

I don't think I've ever seen an original grille with pinstripes, even the remnants of them, in person. So I wouldn't want to say what's right or wrong. It's hard to say from that pic if it's an F4, 5, or 6. It's got the larger 5 lug wheels and is sitting pretty tall, but it is one of the 3. Your guess is as good as mine which.
