86 2.9 Gets too rich?
I have a 86 2.9 Ranger 5 sp that starts great , runs good until warm, and then seems to get too rich at idle and may die, although not always. Still seems to run good down the road although the mileage has gone down. Each time you come to a stop though it will most likely act like it is getting too rich and idle terribly, possibly dying if you don't goose it once in awhile. Have replaced plugs & wires, MAP, blocked off EGR, and can't get any codes too show. Any ideas?

Check the fuel pressure. At the top of the engine you'll find what looks like a tire valve. Screw on the gauge turn the key on/engine off & see what you get. It should hold steady at about 40 PSI.
Don't have a gauge? The last one that I bought from Harbor Freight was about 17 bucks. You want the one for fuel injection.
