battery drain tracked down to gem module

quick question/ battery drain tracked down to fuse 19 gem module....see that it controls 4x4 esof among other things.. should I track down wiring at gem for possible ground and 4x4 shift button ect and any other controls for the gem module? Have a door ajar light on as well/ as for programming can any auto/ truck shop program this? any help to troubleshoot further on it would be of great help!

Pretty sure only the dealer can program these, unless of course the shop is a ford specialty shop with the required program. All they do is type in your VIN and pull a build sheet from the database for everything that your GEM needs to control and pass it on to the GEM.

No, you won't have headlights, blinkers, windows won't work, locks won't work, no wipers, no 4x4. Anything like that (anything in your cab that is run by an electrical circuit is run through there) is controlled by the GEM.

I believe so. I didn't think any of the '02-'03 models came with a GEM.

Ahh yeah didn't pay attention to that. 2002 has three different units (insturment cluster, VSM, and a 4x4 module) instead of the one GEM. I thought you meant take the whole thing out and run it. Yeah just leave that fuse out and all should be good except for whatever that fuse controls.

Looking at this bulldog diagram it's got something from the door ajar to the gem module wonder if that's keeping it on. We will see
