the issue now sounds like the shift cable.the adjustment is down by the trans.you'll see the shift cable bracket by the shift linkage(and mlps) on the trans.look closely and you'll see how to adjust it.get it right and you'll be able to start it easily in P and be able to manually shift all the way down to 1st easily.
keep going.your getting there.

Well I repaired the broken Shift Tube by purchasing a new one..Nice and Firm
Although, I'm still having issues....
Even after adjusting the cable down by the transmission. It will not go into 1st gear at all when manually shifting down to First. When I adjust the cable not following the proper procedures it will not go into Park or 1st gear. That is with the cable all the way extended to max. I think The cable is worn out. I'm going to order a new Shift Cable and go from there.
I currently re-adjusted the cable so I don't have first gear. Better off that way so the truck don't slip into reverse when I put it into park.
When I install the cable I'm going to check to make sure the shift sensor on the driver side is not out of alignment. http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40055

I'm just playing the waiting game at this time for the new cable.
I decided today I would check the range sensor to see if it was out of alignment. Just to see if it has any thing to do with the truck not wanting to manually shift down to first gear. I still think the cable is binding up some were down the line that prevents it shifting from each gear properly.
I took the range sensor off and inspected it to make sure it was lined up properly in neutral. The 2 lines were not lined up. The inside line is lined up in between the 2 outside lines.......Well I decided to line the inside line up with the smallest line on the outside and go from there....
In the long run I could not get the MLPS to bolt back on the truck with it lined up properly in neutral with the lines lined up.... When I shifted the transmission in to another gear to be able line the range sensor back up to bolt it on to the transmission the truck would not start in Park or any other gear. I even made sure the wiring harness was plugged in....
So, I took range sensor off and put it back together how it originally was. The vehicle started up just fine...I'm gonna unplug the battery tomorrow morning to reset the computer. Then plug it back up drive it to work and back to see what codes I get.

this is just a random MLPS,but shows the lines you need to line up (in N position) just the same:
the sensor shouldn't be binding you up any.you can tell if it's the the cable or the shift column issue and not the trans pretty quick by simply shifting into P.disconnect the shift cable at the trans and manually shift the trans with your hand on the shift linage.if you can shift into them all with ease, right down into 1st then you know the issue is on the truck side.if you can't find 1st there, then it's time to drop the pan and inspect the linkage and that detent spring setup there.if you do find first manually like that, use caution not to go any further! you'll end up bypassing the detent spring and then you'd have to drop the pan to help it go back into position.if you do mistakenly bypass it,don't force it back with the shift linkage or you'll just brake the detent spring.

I added a red line to that picture. That is about as far as I can get the range sensor lined up before the housing turns to much. I can not line the 2 holes up to bolt the range sensor back onto the transmission when the range sensor is properly aligned.... I can get the transmission in all gears by moving the lever on the transmission manually with out the shift cable attached. I had to work late tonight so was unable to check for codes. Gonna just throw the code reader in the truck and check it during lunch tomorrow.

Other then that, I put the new shift cable in and.....I have all the gears again and man does it shift smooth though all them like a brand new truck. I even replaced the shift boot around the column to make it look pretty again.
When inspecting the old shift cable a few of the teeth were ground down were it connects to the transmission so it was just moving back and fourth just enough to screw up first gear and park.
Best upgrade I done since the 3G alternator conversion.

Sorry for the delay update on the old fixer upper.
I Put the new Cable in about 20 days ago. Goes in all Gears with no problems. Although sometimes when on a hill I'll have to pull up on Gear Shift Lever to get the key out of the ignition. Probably need to adjust the linkage again but I think ill leave it as is.
