My new to me 99 XLT

In addition to my 97 Lariat that I got in my I recently aquired 99 XLT a diamond in the ruff . I picked it up cheap it needs a little TLC but the main problem was the P.O. could not get the charging system to work. After 3 alternators and some jury rigging of the wires and after taking it to several butcher shops he gave up on it and I got it

Well after I played around with it for about four hours, mainly undoing all the wire rigging and getting everything back to normal. I was able to come up with pinpoint test and get it to charge on it's own. Turns out it was a fuse (20 amp) in the pdb .

It was over looked because it didn't appear blown and it wasn't . It had a hairline separation not in the arch but at the leg right next to the case . You actully have had to be looking for it to find it.

When you probe it it would make contact while you have pressure on it but when you release it it would open . Almost drove me crazy. I had power at the fuse but none at the regulator connector. to make a long story short . I had a friend probe the fuse while I probed the regulator wire.

Pulled the fuse out and looked with my reading glasses on and low and behold . The truck is an XLT regular cab loaded. 5.4 4x4 8'bed black and silver.
